Etihad is the official national airline of the United Arab Emirates, based in the capital Abu Dhabi. After waiting many years for it to open, and a delay caused by the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, in 2024 Etihad Airways was finally able to move into its new terminal facility at Abu Dhabi airport.

A while back, Emirates Airlines and Flydubai move closer together, which resulted in Flydubai moving some of its flights to the Emirates Terminal in Dubai and the introduction of several code-shares. At the time, I was fully expecting a similar cooperation to be put in place with Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways. However, to date this hasn’t happened. It will be interesting to see how the two airlines interact with each other in future.
