The Garuda is a mythical creature that is half beast, half man. Garuda is also the name of one of the industry’s most notorious airlines. When I was still young and Garuda operated to Zürich, people would roll their eyes when you mentioned the airline’s name. The were always notoriously late and notoriously unreliable. In the early 2000s, Lufthansa offered its consulting services to Garuda, with the aim of turning the enfant terrible into a respectable airline.
