The new terminal is a vast improvement over thew old one. I kind of get the feeling though, that’s it’s not entirely finished yet, and there are closed off areas everywhere. If you’re travelling on an EU passport, you’re probably going to need a visit for Indonesia. This can be obtained on arrival. You have to have USD35 in cash on you. Fortunately, the terminal is very quiet when I arrive, and so the whole procedure is easy and painless.

  1. If your from the EU (Ireland) you no longer need $35 for a visa. I’m a regular visitor to Indonesia and this has been wavered.
You can still pay the $35 as they are not advertised at the airports.

    1. Hi Roger

I wasn’t quite sure. But eventually figured it was quickest that way. Although, given how quiet it was when I arrived, I guess I could have just tried going to the immigration counter directly.

      Cheers,
      William

      1. Hi William,
I was the same paying for the visa, $35, everytime but it wasn’t until last year an immigration officer at Surabaya airport told me that the visa process has been changed. He told me this after I paid for the visa.

  2. Great review. GA are an excellent airline. Their first class service to LHR is fantastic. You made a big mistake having the western and not indo breakfast. Their own cuisine is wonderful. Next time.
