In Casablanca I‘m staying at the Sofitel La Tour Blanche, which sits on the fringe of the old Medina and within walking distance of the fabulous grand mosque. Casa Port railway station is just around the corner.

Reception informs me that I‘ve been upgraded to a suite, owing to my ALL Accor status. And what a nice upgrade it is. The room is on the 18th floor, with a spectacular view of the old town and the mosque in the distance.
The Room
I enter the room and step into a large foyer.

To the left is the toilet for guests.

Straight ahead, the room opens up to the spacious living room.

As a welcome gift, there‘s a lovely bouquet of pink flowers, a tray with locally made sweets and a plate of fruit.

The bedroom is on the other side of the wall on which the television is mounted. The bed looks a bit lumpy, but its amazingly comfortable.

It‘s already late afternoon when I arrive, and the turn down service has just made up my room for the night. They‘ve placed a cup and a camomile tea bag on the bedside table

The bathroom is enormous. It features twin sinks,…

… a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower, …

… as well as a large walk-in wardrobe.

There is also a new looking Nespresso machine in the room, and the capsules are replenished daily.
Dining
The breakfast buffet is very nice, and features a rather large selection of Moroccan and French specialties. The room service is reasonably priced, with a decently sized menu.

The Local Area
Casablanca is an interesting mix of modernity and tradition. The Sofitel is part of a fairly new complex. Around the corner is the Royal Mansor Hotel and the railway station also seems quite recent. But as soon as you turn the corner, you quickly find yourself in the old town. There are some really beautiful buildings here. But sadly, many of them are run down, while others are dilapidated and look as though they’re on the brink of collapse. Oh yes, and there’s bird shit literally everywhere

Conclusion
This has been my second visit to the hotel and it didn’t disappoint. The Sofitel La Tour Blanche is a nice hotel and a great place to stay if you’re visiting Casablanca. The room was very generous and ideal for an extended stay of one week.

Hi William——-Well those upgrade fairies have been working Overtime!——Very nice room. I think ive told you about my stay at the only Sofitel i have been to——The one in Zurich. Is it Still there?. It didnt ‘grab’ me particularly[very 70s decor] and may have been refurbished since. Arrived on an Avro from LCY. The only times i have flown with Swiss Avros ive had ‘incidents’——-wont bore you now!
Just did Some investigation——- well,no wonder it didnt grab me!—– it turns out i stayed at an ‘Mgallery by Sofitel,——- Not nice!!!.
Well,not awful,but not !00% Sofitel!——- Ho Hum.
Glad your stay here was as enjoyable as the previous one. Though I’d be less worried about the comfort of the bed and would be skeptical about the comfort of the couch…
Also what’s with the towels on floor? I can kind of maybe see why they are there in the bathroom but in the bedroom as well?
Why, what‘s wrong with the couch? My only problem with it was that there was bo electric plug anywhere in the vicinity.
As for the towels, I think most hotels with a turn down service put one down by the bed. The Peninsula in Hong Kong did too.
I can see what WwK5D says about the couch. Its one of those that seem to be designed for their appearence, and not exactly for comfort——– those cushions dont exactly provide much support for your back.
