Getting to the Airport
I leave Kirchberg at 13h20 and catch a line 16 bus to the airport. They‘re making progress on the construction of the tram line to the airport, which is expected to open next year.

Security is not busy at all. Just as I exit airside, I see the inbound from Zürich decelerating on the runway. I make my way to the Luxair lounge, where they‘re queuing to enter. I think I‘ll pass.
I park myself by the windows and watch the inbound from Zürich pulling onto its stand.

Boarding
Boarding for the flight starts at 14h35, thirty minutes before departure. And it takes for ever. I don‘t know what‘s going on because I‘m still sitting by the window, but it looks as though passengers are only trickling on board.

The Cabin & Seat
The cabin divider is placed behind row two. All four Business Class seats are occupied. The seat pitch on row 1 is okay, but the flight is only forty minutes anyway.

The Crew & Service
As usual, there‘s a packaged towel and a bottle of still water as I take my seat.
The crew are an interesting mix. The maître de is German of Turkish descent. Then there‘s a Chinese young lady and a Swiss crew member. The maître de is rather stern, but overall they’re quite good.

We take off in a southwesterly direction. The climbout is rather bumpy and there are some threatening looking cloud formations in the vicinity.

The Snack
As soon as the crew is released, they start serving the snack. It‘s a small tray with two canapés and a dessert. One canapé is roast beef. While I don‘t eat that, I commend SWISS for cooking it well enough so the slice of bread it’s on doesn‘t look as though some poor cow bled to death on it. The other is some kind of vegetable paste. For dessert there is what looks like a panna cotta with strawberries.

To drink I have a coffee. The crew pass through the cabin with the famous small chocolates. The maître de makes an announcement advising passengers of their connecting flights. Given how long the announcement is, it sounds like most of the passengers are transitting through Zürich.

Arrival in Zürich
The approach is rather unsettled and quite bumpy. We land in Zürich surprisingly on time.

We taxi to the gate and I get a veritable blast from the past, because our stand is right in front of the Ops Centre, where, many moons ago, the old Crossair used to park its Saabs and Fokker 50s.

I disembark, but I haven‘t really got time to take photos because the other three passengers are already on the Business Class shuttle and waiting to leave. Oh, okay then…

Ten minutes after the wheels touch the ground, I exit through customs and make my way to the station to go home. It‘s nice to be back!
