Introduction
The last time I visited Luxembourg and stayed at the Novotel, the place was quite a building site. They were busy redoing the reception and dining area. Four months later, the work has been completed and the hotel is now hardly recognizable.
The Lobby
Where previously reception was to the left of the main entrance to the hotel, it has been moved so that it now faces the entrance, which makes a lot more sense. On the side where reception used to be is now a lounge area.
I think the place definitely looks nicer and more modern now. The only thing I’m not sure about, is the dark colour. Perhaps it’s not so obvious in the photos below because I took them after dark with the lights on. But generally, the lobby is quite sombre.

The Room
On this visit, I’m staying in a room on the sixth floor. I still can’t get over how the rooms have changed since the redesign. I think they’re still the same size, but they just seem a lot more spacious. It’s a comfortable room and the desk is large enough if you need to get work done.

Amenities
There is a bathrobe and slippers available in the room. In addition, there is a hot water kettle and a coffee machine. The capsules and cream are replenished daily. The drinks in the fridge are complimentary. However, the tap water in Luxembourg is excellent, so there’s really no need for the sodas in the minibar, unless you want the sugar high…

The Bathroom
The old baths have been removed and replaced with a much more convenient walk-in shower. However, while the bathroom fittings are obviously new, the plumbing was obviously not renewed with the rest of the hotel because the pressure in the shower is quite poor. The cosmetics in the shower were recently changed and are now by Rituals.

The Restaurant
The main restaurant has been significantly expanded and completely redone too. Where it used to be rather cold and nondescript, it is now a lot cozier, with warm brown colours. The expansion of the dining area has also meant an expansion of the breakfast buffet.

Conclusion
I’ve been staying at the Novotel several times a year for the last 14 years. To be honest, previously I never stayed there because I liked the hotel. It’s location is just convenient. However, the changes they have made to the establishment really are a huge improvement. During this last stay, I also noticed that the staff seemed excited about the embellishments, and eager to hear customers’ opinions, which is a good sign.

Nice looking and tasteful——- spots are much better than squiggles dont you think?!
I’m not sure how to answer this one, Peter. I don’t mind squiggles. But spots are likely easier on the eyes.
Well William,to use a terrible cliche —– different strokes for different folks!
Maybe a cliché, but still a fair point.
Looks like a nice hotel. Do they have suites as well?
They do, but I’m not sure how many. On one of my stays I was upgraded to a suite on the seventh floor that was quite large.
