Introduction
I’m on my way from Antalya back to Paris via Istanbul. I could have just changed planes and continued directly. Probably, if my planning were better, like, much, much better, that’s what I would have done. You see, the new Istanbul airport is rather far from the city and has only a very poor railway connection into town. When eventually I realised my mistake, I decided to book a hotel at the airport, ready for my early morning departure to Paris.
Location
The Yotel Landside Hotel at Istanbul airport is located at departure level on the top floor of the terminal. It is situated right above the checkpoint for access to fast track international security. The entrance to the hotel is between check-in rows M and N.

At lobby level there is a bar area and behind that a dining room which serves food 24/7. I don’t have anything to eat there, so I have no idea if it’s any good.
Premium Plus King Room
I’ve booked a Premium Plus King for some extra space. I once stayed in one of their regular capsules at Amsterdam airport and found it quite claustrophobic – particularly because of the absence of windows. At least with this room I have a view of the check-in area below. In case you’re wondering, I only figured out after I’d taken the photos that you could change the lighting from slutty magenta to a soothing blue or neutral white.

Most importantly, the bed is spacious and hard. With my back problems, I appreciate the support. I hate those mattresses that are so soft that they nearly swallow you up.

Other than that, there’s a good size desk and a small sitting area with coffee table.

The washroom is integrated into the room. There’s just a small cubicle with the shower and another with the toilet.

In terms of amenities provided by the hotel, the room has everything you might need. There’s a safe, hair dryer, slippers and even a bottle of still water. I’ve never heard of the brand of soap and shower gel, but they smell nice. It’s rather sweet, but the scent doesn’t linger on the skin.

Conclusion
I must say, I rather liked the Yotel. I arrived ahead of the check-in time, but was able to access the room by paying EUR10 extra for early check-in, which allowed me to have a short rest before heading into Istanbul for some sightseeing.

How much was the room overall? It seems like you felt it was worth the price.
I thought the room was quite expensive at EUR220. I was glad for the extra space, though.
