Transfer in Frankfurt is… surprisingly painless!
I mean, I must admit that although Frankfurt airport is a big mess, the views on the shuttle to the terminal are just brilliant!
By the time we’re ejected in the bowels of the A concourse, it’s 15h28. My flight to Oslo should be leaving in less than thirty minutes. I’ve received a mail from Lufthansa telling me that my flight is departing from A50. I prepare for the worst as I head up the escalators… only to find that my gate is right there, straight ahead in front of me. I reach the gate and boarding is only just starting.

Boarding
Boarding starts with a call for passengers needing assistance to board first, followed by status holders and Business Class passengers.

The cabin crew make several announcements to remind passengers that the flight is full and therefore, hand luggage items should go under the seats.

The Cabin
There are three rows of Business Class and every seat is taken. I’m seated on 1F. This aircraft has the same tray tables as the aircraft on my flight from Larnaca. The window and aisle seats have tray tables that are mounted on the bulkhead. The aisle seat has it in the armrest.

The Crew & Service
The crew on this flight are all female. As on the previous flight, they hand out bottles of still water while we’re still on the ground. The service is friendly, but not very warm.
The Meal – a déjà vue
The meal is a slightly larger version of the first course on my flight from Cyprus to Frankfurt. Meat with meat and meat, egg salad (I think) and a cucumber and potato salad. And some kind of cabbage.

With the meal, the crew serve rolls and slices of bread. The rolls are piping hot. I need to let mine cool before I can even touch it.

I don’t have the dessert, but I appreciate the little chocolates they serve with the coffee.

Arrival
The flight time to Oslo is one hour and fifty minutes. The descent is beautiful, and brings us in over a sparsely populated landscape. We touch down at 18h00. My onward flight departs at 19h50.

My experience with Lufthansa was not bad at all. The flights all departed and arrived on time and the crews were much more engaging than they used to be. The food is honestly not to my liking. But I think that’s just a cultural thing. Where I see Lufthansa’s biggest issue, is the lack of consistency in its service delivery. Sometimes you receive a bottke of water as a welcome drink, sometimes you don’t. Similarly, based on my previous experience transferring through Frankfurt on my way back from Larnaca, I was seriously considering rebooking the trip to Oslo, simply to avoid Frankfurt. But in actual fact, the experience today was a lot more pleasant and effortless.
